MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE BODY MEETING OF 23nd  MINES ENVIRONMENT AND MINERAL CONSERVATION WEEK 2015-16 HELD AT HOTEL  GOLKONDA, HYDERABAD ON 17.10.2016

The meeting commenced with the welcome address by Shri V.Subramanyam,   GM (Mines), M/s.Sagar Cements Ltd. & Secretary, MEMC Council. The list of participants is annexed separately.

The MEMC Council reviewed the progress of the work carried out till date and discussed the item wise agenda points and  following decisions were taken in the meeting:

  • It was informed that a new bank account has been opened in the name of “Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week 2016-17” at Andhra Bank, Mattampally for receiving participation and advertisement fee for this year’s celebration.
  • It was appraised by Sagar Cements Ltd., that 18 mines have paid participation and advisement fee but the material for advertisement is still pending. Hence, it was once again requested to expedite the advisement matter, endorsing a copy to IBM also.
  • Sri K.V.Ramana, Convenor, MEMC Council invited suggestions from the executive body regarding designing web portal for MEMC Week celebrations. He also requested that photographs in HD format, achievements, Video film/PPT on the exclusive achievements in mines made with the help of professional voice may be sent for uploading on the website.

RCOM suggested that all the material for uploading on the website should be sent by the competent authority in the company’s letterhead.

  • RCOM said that it is not feasible to celebrate MEMC Week as per earlier practice for North Zone & South Zone separately. Instead the large mechanised mines can be grouped into two depending upon the total excavation handled. Accordingly, this year around 154 mines are participating in the celebrations which include 62 Large mechanised, 45 Semi-mechanised and 47 Manual mines. These 62 large mechanised mines can be categorized into two groups based on their rated capacity of production.

The VIP messages from Central Govt. and State Government are to be sought for printing in the souvenir and a letter has to be written separately for the purpose in consultation with IBM. The last date for sending the technical article for souvenir and advisement is 15-11-2016. RCOM advised that due care should be taken while sending the articles for printing as the contents will be printed without any further change in the souvenir.

The back inside page of the sourvenir is reserved for M/s.Orient Cements for advertisement.

RCOM advised the host that all the publicity material should be ready by 1st week of December, 2016 for distribution in the next meeting. Also wide publilcity should be given in the leading local newspaper about the celebrations. For printing calendar, photographs in high resolution form should be sent by         15-11-2016 so that the calendar are also ready for distribution in the next meeting.

  1. c) Inspection Sub-Committee:

It was requested to send the nomination of 3 persons from each mine  i.e. Mining Engineers, Geologists & Environment Engineer, who have the experience of working in actual field for inspection team latest by 15.11.2016. It was also decided to schedule the inspection team for inspection of minimum one large mechanised mine per day and not more than 7 mines in a week.

6)       Essay Writing, Posters & Slogans competitions:

The topic for Essay Writing competition for the children of mine employees in three languages namely Telugu, Hindi & English will be related to Environmental aspects will be conducted  as per practice. The topic of the essay is –

Sustainable development of natural resources (environment & minerals).

Regarding the posters and slogan competition is as usual, all the employees and their family members are eligible to participate.  For posters ½ imperial drawing sheet size may be preferred for easy carrying.

All these competitions will be held at mine site only and the entries for the first, second & third prize-winners should be sent to the Secretary, MEMC Coucil to decide the overall winners, to be awarded on the concluding day function. Posters can be sent separately.

The amount of prize money for these competitions can be revised accordingly.

7)       Finalization of dates of ME & MC Week & Final Day function

Celebration of the Week:  From 3rd week of December, 2016 or
5th January, 2017.

Final day function on: To be decided later.

Venue  – Sagar Cements Ltd., Mattampally, Nalgonda (Dt).

  • Any children who has excelled in the academics/sports or any other field can be identified and awarded suitably during the final day celebrations.

He said that the host have progressed well in the work of MEMC Week so far but the souvenir work should be completed as soon as possible and requested the participating mines to send at least one technical article for printing. The innovative work done so far and future plans and new technologies can be projected. He advised       M/s. Sagar cements Ltd., to ensure that all the publicity material are ready for distribution within stipulated time. He further said though small committees are formed for this year celebrations but all the co-operation will be extended by the industry and IBM to the host for successful conduct of the celebrations.

He said that work related to web portal is being undertaken and a template has been sent to every mine for getting information. He requested all the participating mines to check the web page so that modifications, if any can be undertaken. He also assured that all the efforts will be done to celebrate the MEMC Week in a befitting manner.

He said any innovative ideas/suggestion are invited for the web portal of MEMC Week and all the efforts will be done to make the celebration a grand success.

He thanked the council for giving an opportunity to celebrate the next years MEMC week celebrations and said that the experience gained by involving M/s.Trimax Sands. Pvt. Ltd. in the committee will be useful for celebrating the MEMC Week next year.
